Dr Siddharth Patwardhan

Siddharth Patwardhan (SP) has received a B.Eng. in Petrochemical Engineering from the University of Pune and M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He gained post-doctoral research experience at the University of Delaware and Nottingham Trent University before joining the University of Strathclyde. SP has been successful in attracting funding from sources including national and international Research Councils, Charitable Trust, Scottish Enterprise and industry. SP has over 50 peer-reviewed publications and delivered over 40 oral presentations at international conferences. SP is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). SP is a reviewer for Ca’ Foscari University, EPSRC, NSF, DFG and journals covering Chemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering and Materials disciplines. SP has co-organised symposia at ACS conferences. He is an associate editor of the journal SILICON. He has been selected on RSC’s Materials Chemistry Division Council.

Dr. Patwardhan has expertise in multidisciplinary areas such as green routes to nanomaterials, self-assembly of biomolecules and scale-up manufacturing of nanomaterials. Research in Dr. Patwardhan’s group aims to demonstrate potential of green methods for nanomaterials synthesis by realisation of their real-life applications. Current projects in his group are focussed on developing application of green nanomaterials in catalysis, biocatalysis, carbon capture, environmental remediation and biomedical devices (see Figure). Technologies allowing scaled-up continuous manufacturing of these novel materials are also being developed. Focus is on increasing technology readiness level (TRL) for new developments and delivering technologies that are ready for commercialisation.
